Chemistry for the Grammar Stage Required Resources Package includes the Chemistry for the Grammar Stage Teacher Guide, Chemistry for the Grammar Stage Student Workbook, and the 2 spine books: Usborne Science Encyclopedia and Eyewitness Elements
You will need to provide the household supplies used for the activities and science biographies
In Chemistry
for the Grammar Stage, students will learn about atoms and molecules, the Periodic
Table, physical changes, chemical changes, mixtures, acids and bases and
organic chemistry over 36-weeks. Using a multisensory approach, students will
read assigned pages in various spine books, perform hands-on activities and
complete writing assignments. There are also numerous optional learning
opportunities ranging from memory work, additional reading of library books or
encyclopedias, review sheets, and topical projects. The course also includes
two biographical studies: Louis Pasteur and Marie Curie. Book recommendations
are included. Required resources include Chemistry for the Grammar Stage Teacher Guide, Chemistry for the Grammar Student Workbook, The Usborne Science Encyclopedia (2015 edition) and The Elements (DK Eyewitness 2022 edition). These are available separately or in
a convenient package. Numerous household supplies are
required to complete the activities, so see the PDF list on the Teacher Guide
page. Optional reading resources are
suggested to enhance lessons. If you are looking for a textbook approach of
reading and regurgitating information, this is not a good fit. If your young
student loves to pore over science books, this program provides a framework
that will inspire their passion through the balance of activities and quality readings.
Religiously neutral, although required/recommended resources do contain secular
content on occasion.
