Math 1 uses manipulatives and real-life experiences to teach place value, addition, subtraction, geometry, time, money, measurements, and fractions–all with engaging themes and characters. Writing equations, reading graphs, and other concepts are introduced as part of problem-solving skills. Paper Manipulatives are used in this hands-on approach to math. Unifix cubes are also recommended in Grade 1, but a good supply of Legos® will also work. The Reviews workbook provides practice for each lesson as well as a review of concepts that have been taught in previous lessons. Chapter reviews and cumulative reviews are included at the end of each chapter. The Teacher Edition includes a Toolkit CD-ROM with instructional aids and enrichment activities.
