Description
Here is an opportunity to introduce young readers to the biography genre in a way that is engaging to read, visually interesting, and will grow their vocabulary! As a new topic begins, the heading is in bold font. This cues the reader to what is to come. Vocabulary words are bolded in the text and definitions are found in a handy glossary – another learning opportunity for the newly fluent reader. Illustrations, charts and maps provide context and have a colorful yet simplified look. Timelines along the way show how events relate to each other in a concrete fashion. Prompts called Jump in the Think Tank ask the reader to form an opinion on what they just read. A short quiz in the back can be done conversationally or used as a reading comprehension assessment. I would love to see more in this series! Kids will want to read them all! Even the dimensions of the book have young readers in mind. It is a very well thought out series. ~Sara
