Heritage Studies 2 Activities 4th Edition
This consumable, 109-page activities book is pre-punched with holes to put in a 3-ring binder. Activities align with each of the 5 chapters of the student text, and provide opportunities to reinforce learning with maps, questions, worksheets, and study guides to help students prepare for the tests. ~Amber
The student activities book is a consumable companion to the student edition, providing a variety of pages to reinforce the students' understanding and to give them opportunities to apply lesson objectives. Each chapter has a study guide that provides a review of concepts and terms.
This complete social studies curriculum assumes a strong Christian worldview that is meaningful and relevant in today’s world. It reflects a conservative evangelical perspective and would be a good choice for many Christians because of its Godly perspective. Heritage Studies uses a narrative approach making the books more interesting and provides a look at how God has interacted with human events to establish His kingdom, and give students an opportunity to study historical figures and events through the lens of God’s Word. In addition to the historical aspect of Heritage Studies, students are invited to evaluate concepts, cultural values, economic issues, and government systems using Scripture. By teaching the past, students become aware of the present and are better able to understand and think critically about issues they will face. Heritage Studies strives to present a balanced view of history and challenges students to think for themselves.
Many of the texts have been updated and revised in recent years. Student Texts are colorful and non-consumable. Teacher Editions are full of resources (these will vary between editions), and usually include reduced student pages, teaching tips, background and supplemental information, and answer keys. Newer editions also include a Toolkit CD, which includes maps, visuals, instructional aids, Activity Manual Answer Keys (in some cases), and more. Activity Manuals include full-color pages to review and enrich lessons. Activity Manual Answer Keys are student activity manual pages with answers filled in – in some cases the Activity Manual answers are found in the teacher edition for that level. Tests are non-reproducible and come in a packet with one test per chapter; Tests Answer Keys are student tests with the answers filled in. A Visuals Packet is available for grade 1 (optional) and includes a timeline, maps, pictures, interactive figures, and full-color charts. Home School Kits include the required materials for teaching Heritage Studies at each grade level, and usually includes a Student Text, Teacher Edition, Activity Manual, Activity Manual Answer Key (where needed), Tests, and Tests Answer Keys.
Grade 2 Heritage Studies 3rd ed. was updated in 2014 and continues the study that was begun in Grade 1. Students will learn even more about God’s plan for salvation and continue their study of United States history from Native Americans to the founding of our independent nation; content is divided into 90 lessons. Students will also cover topics in an age-appropriate manner, such as civics, geography, and more. Scripture verses, maps, artwork, photos, and quick-check questions will create an interesting learning environment. Optional enhancements to the curriculum are Sarah Witcher’s Story (#80564), Songbird (#117382), On Yonder Mountain, Rand McNally Classroom Atlas, and Rand McNally Historical Atlas of the World. The Teacher Edition includes the Toolkit CD, which contains Activity Manual Answer Key, teaching visuals (timelines, pictures, graphs), maps, instructional aids, and activities. The Home School Kit includes Student Text, Teacher Edition w/ Toolkit CD, Student Activity Manual, Tests, and Tests Answer Key.
Where do I belong in the world? The study of social studies naturally raises questions about our place in the world. Students will examine five biblical worldview themes covering citizenship, government, economics, geography, and culture to answer these questions. 90 total lessons. ~Amber
