Do not buy
We purchased the Spanish 1 materials (3rd edition), which cost around $200, because they were billed as a homeschool curriculum. It is impossible for us to use, and we are so frustrated with school now because of it. It assumes the student has previous knowledge of Spanish, introducing many new terms and concepts without any explanation, and it also assumes the homeschool teacher knows Spanish and that there is a classroom to do the activities and tests with. We are struggling so much but don't know what to do because of the investment we already made in this product. We can't afford to purchase anything else. I did well in Spanish in high school and college but still cannot use this. Friends who are using this at a co-op with a Spanish-speaking teacher are also struggling. Wish BJU would refund my money. My daughter is a good student, and I hate that she is so discouraged.

4 Questions
How long does a typical daily lesson last?

It will vary by student of course, but a ballpark would be 30-40 minutes.

Do the DVD's match the audio downloads?  If I buy the third edition and I want audio hard copies, will the DVD's match?

I am not sure if the DVDs will match the third edition, however you can download all of the audio files to your computer from BJU’s Homeschool Hub.

What is the difference between the BJU Spanish 1 test and assessment?

Assessments = tests.

How does this differ from the second edition curriculum? And why is it so much cheaper than the second edition? Thanks!

The new edition uses a free audio download. This is cheaper for the company since they don't have to make the CDs.
