The Level 1 Our World Readers Set provides 6 small individual books. As their name implies, these books provide factual information on musical topics coupled with beautiful photographs. Topics include drums, the orchestra, recorders, bells, guitars, and string instruments. The inside front cover of each book includes a review of the 42 sounds plus some beginning "tricky words". The back cover is a quick tutorial with helpful information for parents/teachers for encouraging strong reading comprehension.
The Jolly Phonics Readers Level 1 Our World are fully decodable books for new readers. They are the second set of readers within the Our World series that was first launched in 2020 as part of the Jolly Phonics refresh. They have been written with a carefully controlled vocabulary, and are specifically designed for students who are learning to read and write with Jolly Phonics. - The text in these Red Level Books (first level) uses only decodable regular words (words that are made up from the 42 letter sounds taught in the first stage of Jolly Phonics) and a small number of 'tricky' words (frequently used words that are not fully decodable at this stage). - All of the tricky words and letter sounds used in this book are shown on the front inside cover. These can be used as a quick practice activity before starting the book. - Faint type is used for silent letters, like the in lamb. - Comprehension questions and discussion topics are included at the end of the book. These ensure that students are not only able to read the text, but also get meaning from it.
Energetically colorful, the Level 1 (red) Readers coordinate with the phonics skills taught in Student Book 1.
The Level 1 Complete Set provides 18 small individual books/stories while each Reader has the same stories with six stories per book. The Level 1 Readers each provide a particular type of story (six tales per Reader): the fictional antics of Inky Mouse and Friends, non-fiction (Phonics' Fantastic Facts), and general, often familiar, fiction stories (Snake's Amazing Tales). The Level 1 Set includes these three Readers.
