Bible 4 Journal
This resource proves that creative writing and Bible study can go hand-in-hand. Through the Bible 4 Journal, students are encouraged to think critically over what they are reading in the Bible for themselves as well as what they are learning through their daily Bible lessons. Filled with hundreds of reflection questions and writing prompts, students will be writing all year long through their Bible readings. Intended to be used in conjunction with the Abeka Bible 4 program, this can also be used on its own for Bible journaling for upper elementary age students. Larger, overarching sections have analysis work at the end to tie each lesson together as part of the larger narrative. This Bible journal will keep students engaged with their Bible reading all year long. Pgs. 226 | pb ~Rebecca
Use the opportunities provided in the Bible 4 Journal to encourage personal development of a biblical worldview. Students will review the Bible lessons they learned as they study God’s Word independently and record weekly entries that prompt class discussion and personal application. Inside, the students are provided decorative pages that illustrate key Bible verses and creative writing and drawing activities for added application. The Bible 4 Journal correlates with the Grade 4 Bible Curriculum and is used in conjunction with the Flash-a-Card series. Increase your students’ biblical application and lesson comprehension with this fun, archeological-themed journal.
This spiral curriculum progressively helps students learn (and memorize) major Bible content and key Scriptures (KJV), Christian doctrine, and the plan of Salvation. Each year's study systematically overviews key characters, events, and concepts from the Old and New Testaments. Teachers are given plentiful guidance: lesson plan helps and procedures; nearly scripted lessons; reproducible tests (with answers); and more. Most student learning and review work is oral, with periodic testing. Typically, the approximate 30-minute, 4-day-per-week plan begins the first half of each lesson with the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem, then a variety of songs (hymns, choruses, and more, aided by the included grade-level music CD). Next, comes Scripture memory and review (sometimes from previous years), other Bible concept drills (depending on the grade), and prayer.
The second half is the topic-focused Bible lesson. The Flash-a-Card® stories serve as each lesson's hub. Although quantity and print format vary per level, these full-color illustrated Bible stories offer students a visual while you provide the lesson.
Each grade simultaneously introduces new material while periodically spiraling back on specific units from previous years, with the goal of deepening children's Biblical understanding. So, you'll note some periodic repetitive use of card story sets, typically repeating some units every other year. However, some sets are used annually: the Crucifixion and Resurrection; the Salvation Series (used in K5 - Grade 6), and the Life of Christ Stories series of 5 sets (used in all but 5th and K4). You can, however, start Abeka® Bible at any level since kits will include each year's lessons and materials.
Grades 5-6 kits maintain the teaching methodologies and focus begun in previous levels. At these grades only "classroom" style kits are available, but they're still appropriate for home school use. These pictorial Flash-a-Cards® sets, made of sturdy 12"x15" cardstock, are stored in a protective vinyl case, providing group teaching options and many years of use. In addition, you'll receive a Sing to the Lord songbook and CD, a spiral bound Curriculum Plan, and Sword Drill books (providing children practice using their Bibles). The kit for Grades 5 or 6 comes in a large storage box, protecting your Bible curriculum.
The K4 - grade 4 kits are homeschool editions: these 8 1/2"x 11" pictures and detachable lesson guides are stored in a book format. Kits include a level of the Sing Unto the Lord song CD (Scripture songs, choruses, and hymns), the curriculum, and the illustrated Flash-a-Card®. Grades 3, 5, and 6 add a spiral-bound songbook with simple piano arrangements, lyrics, an index, and grade-level indications. See our website for grade level specifics. ~ Ruth

Jumping into Grade 4 may feel reminiscent if you are following the Abeka Bible levels. Following the Grade 1 stories, students will enjoy the narrative approach to Bible stories about Jesus, creation, Old Testament patriarchs, and the life of Paul. Students will dig a little deeper in their understanding and comprehension of these Bible stories. Lesson guides are included with each set of cards with detailed prompts. The Fourth Grade Bible Curriculum guide details the Scope and Sequence, memory verses, and lesson plans. This is the resource to help teachers plan their Bible studies for the year. The kit will include the Sing unto the Lord 4 CD to teach 70 biblically-based songs and hymns, aiding understanding of Jesus’ love through the power of song. Grade 4 Bible introduces the Bible Journal 4 where students can let their creative juices flow as they study scripture and process the Word of God through writing. If you are a returning Abeka Bible user, consult the Abeka Bible Flash-A-Cards Chart to see what cards you already have and what cards you need to add for this grade level. The new Flash-a-Card® set added to your collection this year is Life of Paul Series 2.
