Description

The day of Prince Dolor's christening, a day normally happy and cheerful, had quickly turned into a day most dreadful to the kingdom. The young prince, being carried by one of his nurses, was dropped on the palace's marble staircase. The accident, though quick and quiet, caused a spinal injury that left the prince crippled in his legs. At the same time of the accident, his fragile and ill mother had taken her last breath. Although he still had a father, he was left to be raised by the palace nurses. When prince Dolor is still only a young boy, his father, the King of Nomansland, also passes. Due to the prince's young and crippled state, the uncle of the prince takes over the kingdom, sending the prince away to a countryside mountain. The prince is too young to know his position and responsibilities, and the public now believes he is dead too, due to a staged illness and death that his uncle proclaims. His new home is in the tower with the same nurse who was banished for dropping him. She is allowed to stay alive as long as the boy remains alive. During his stay at the tower, he meets his fairy godmother who gives him a precious gift. Will he or the people of the kingdom ever know the true whereabouts of this young, rightful king? Will he ever know a life outside of the tower with this foolish nurse? This short tale is a both wonderful and sad, combining the events of royal life with the land of fairytale. 133 pgs, pb.
