Each leveled set contains 12 books (8 pgs each) with full-color photos. Each set covers a guided reading level which coordinates with the publisher's companion Fantail Reader Levels (indicated on each books back cover). Phase 5 introduces alternative vowel sounds.
Vowel Sound Readers introduce a further 20 letter patterns, mainly focusing on alternative vowel sounds. These readers have been written using a strictly controlled vocabulary. Text uses only decodable regular words (according to a week by week progression) along with 'tricky words'. Tricky words are words frequently used that are not decodable. Set includes 12 non-fiction readers each illustrated with photographic images.
