The Americana Universal Set includes everything you need for vocabulary development in the skill development stage of spelling, with 36 weekly lessons (divided into five daily parts): the Instructor's Handbook with introduction to the philosophy of Spelling You See and a Getting Started guide, as well as the Student Pack with includes two student workbooks and a pack of erasable colored pencils. In Americana, students will read nonfiction stories about American history and culture while learning to spell new words in an interesting context. Americana utilizes the core activities of Spelling You See: chunking, providing hands-on experience with English's many irregular letter patterns; copywork, requiring the brain to pay attention to details in print; and dictation, giving an opportunity for student to demonstrate decoding and encoding in a meaningful context.
