A Fraction Overlay Kit is utilized in the Epsilon course to teach fractions. This set is color-coordinated with the Integer Block Set to aid students in learning fractions.

This kit contains 49 total pieces that represent halves through sixteenths. There are 5 green, 2 orange, 3 pink, 4 yellow, 5 blue, 6 purple, and 8 brown colored vinyl pieces representing the numerator. Clear lined vinyl overlays portray the denominator, with two each of halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, and tenths, and one half-sheet each of eighths and sixteenths.

Used when teaching fractions in Epsilon, this updated Kit includes new eighths pieces and more unit pieces to make it easier for students to build mixed-number problems. The fold-shut case has tabbed flaps and clearly-marked sections so overlays stay neatly stored, and the convenient size stands on a bookshelf but is easy to take along.

Mastery of fractions including equivalent fractions and basic operations with fractions becoming fluent with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. Also includes common factors, grouping symbols and order of operations, comparing and converting decimal fractions, area and circumference of a circle, classifying quadrilaterals, fractional measurements on line plots and number lines, and using coordinates to represent ordered relationships.

Lessons follow a similar format – watch the DVD lesson (parent then child/parent together), work through lesson examples in the instruction manual together, and complete worksheets. Lessons conclude with a test. Cumulative unit tests are scheduled regularly to assure students retain previous teaching. A final test over all concepts taught concludes the course.

We've been using the digital math u see manipulative but the over lay part is not user friendly and for my neuro divergent child it's definitely not user friendly. So we still have more than half of…

We chose this to go along with the Epsilon MathUSee program.

Math-U-See overlay kit is a necessary tool for kids to get a good visual picture of fractions in their head. Necessary for Epsilon level, introducing fractions.
