The Math-U-See Epsilon Student Workbook and Tests include
the consumable student resources that are necessary for the program. The
Student Workbook contains a mix of practice problems and word problems. Space
is provided to work out the problems, but some students may prefer having
access to scratch paper. The Test Booklet provides an opportunity to evaluate
concept mastery. Parents are encouraged to reteach previous lessons if the
student has not mastered a concept. Both books are consumable and not reproducible.
Each student will need their own Workbook and Test Booklet.
Publisher's Description of Math-U-See Epsilon Student Workbook and Tests
The Epsilon Student Pack contains the Student Workbook with lesson-by-lesson worksheets, systematic review pages, and Application and Enrichment pages as well as Epsilon Tests. The Epsilon level covers basic operations with fractions and other topics.
Mastery of fractions including equivalent fractions and basic operations with fractions becoming fluent with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. Also includes common factors, grouping symbols and order of operations, comparing and converting decimal fractions, area and circumference of a circle, classifying quadrilaterals, fractional measurements on line plots and number lines, and using coordinates to represent ordered relationships.
Lessons follow a similar format – watch the DVD lesson (parent then child/parent together), work through
lesson examples in the instruction manual together, and complete worksheets.
Lessons conclude with a test. Cumulative unit tests are scheduled regularly to
assure students retain previous teaching. A final test over all concepts taught
concludes the course.
This program works well for our family. We have experienced from Althea all the way to Geometry. I appreciate the emphasis on mastery before moving onto the next topic. Sometimes, in Algebra, there are multiple steps done in an example and they are not demonstrated singly. But with a little time and adult effort we were able to overcome that. We have experience in other popular math programs and this one is the one I would recommend.
