Stem Explorations: Gears Building Set
Builds three models: Crank Shaft, Egg Beater, and Car Window. 143 pcs.
Explore STEM concepts while building different geared models! Using the materials included in this set, elementary-school aged children will be engaged and energized as they further their knowledge and understanding of science, technology, engineering and math concepts. The set includes 140+ parts for a single child or team of 2 children to build 3 unique geared models: a Crank Fan, a Car Window and an Egg Beater. Once built, a downloadable booklet guides students through 3 hands-on, inquiry-based experiments on each of the models. Students will learn about gear configurations, gear ratios, rotational speed, mechanical advantage and more! The Experiment Guide is aligned to national STEM standards and is appropriate for grade levels 3-5.
Designed to introduce students to basic scientific concepts, these sets can produce several moving models (1 at a time) that emphasize practical mechanics. The emphasis of this line is on small group learning; students put together models and follow the included experiment worksheets, all the while learning about the concept each model represents. Vehicles is the simplest kit, while Roller Coaster and Swing Ride are much larger and more complex.
The STEM sets come with additional projects and a series of questions that help children understand concepts. They also encourage children to build further and come up with their own modifications…
