Not quite what I expected
I really wanted to love this coloring book, as we are huge Narnia fans around here and the illustrations are always just begging to be colored in. But unfortunately this volume disappoints. Too few full page illustrations, too many of these odd two-page spread "quote" coloring panoramas (quotes from each book in large letters with repeating designs around them), too many pages with nothing to color at all (just more quotes from the books). Worst of all, when there are so many really great illustrations in the books to choose from, why the editors chose the few pictures they did while ignoring countless other far better ones is beyond me. There are almost no pictures of Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy in this coloring book. I kid you not. But there are multiple pictures and multiple repeating pattern pictures of the White Witch, of Jadis, of Prince Rabadash, and of lots of different evil creatures. Why??!!! And there are lots of maps and a plot of the Dawn Treader. I would have preferred no maps and instead more full page pictures of the good and beautiful and best pictures from the books. Where are the lovely ladies (what every girl wants to color), the dear talking beasts, the iconic scenes see children as the gifts of Father Christmas? Who wants to color in the White Witch eight times over? Just bizarre. At least they included the picture of Lucy and Mr Tumnus under the umbrella ...
