Essentials in Writing Level 1 Additional Workbook 2nd Edition
- Additional student workbook for this grade level
- Requires the digital teaching component
- Learn sentence types, parts of speech, and paragraph writing
This student book is perfect for an additional student who already has access to the digital teaching and grading resources from EIW™. Students will develop their skills systematically. Font size and writing space are large and tasks are manageable. In this 34-week plan, students spend about 10-15 minutes writing daily. The worktext coordinates with the video lessons. Ideally, the student and teacher would look at the worksheet before viewing the video for that day's lesson. Worksheets are used sequentially, with some lessons being completed in one day and some being split into multiple days (for instance, Lesson 1A, 1B, 1C). Scheduling is simple – just play the video for the next lesson in the workbook. Worksheet clarity is good; the examples and directions are clear, and the assignment is focused on the topic at hand. Please note that answers to the workbook are included in the separate Teacher Handbook, not in the workbook itself. ~ Ruth

This pick-up-and-go course guides students systematically through writing with an emphasis on grammar. Students develop their composition skills step by step. Font size and writing space is large and tasks are manageable. Students begin with letters, spacing between words, and more sentence-level concepts. Then students practice writing various types of sentences, noting which ones are complete and incomplete. Students are introduced briefly to declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative sentences. Students learn to carefully handle nouns, adjectives, and action verbs. All these concepts prepare students for writing the personal assignments: a letter, a narrative, and finally, an imaginative narrative. The course follows a 34-week plan. Students spend about 10-15 minutes writing daily. ~ Ruth
