My First Book About Outer Space
This black-and-white illustrated, informational book from Dover allows students to color in their own beginning astronomy book. The text covers basic information on each planet in the solar system, stars, constellations and galaxies, as well as some discussion about what ancient cultures discovered about the stars. Be aware that the text attributes the Big Bang theory as the cause for creation, taking an old-earth, evolutionary stance. It also accredits meteors as the cause of mass dinosaur extinction. 8.25" x 11", 46 pp, sc. ~ Ruth
Where do we live among the galaxies, what did people think before they could study the sky with telescopes, and what happened to Pluto? Thirty-nine illustrations to color answer these and other questions about our Solar System and beyond. Entertaining, easy-to-understand captions explain crater formation, constellations, weightlessness, space junk, and other fascinating subjects. Suitable for ages 812.
Offering realistic illustrations and easy-to-understand language, this series from Dover Books provides elementary and middle school students an excellent introduction to numerous science topics. The captions also provide foundational explanations to provide learners a basic working knowledge of the topic and a larger text for ease of reading. Using colored pencils, crayons or markers, children can color each illustration to reinforce what they have learned. Provides an excellent supplement to any science curriculum or unit/nature study to reinforce learning. Not reproducible. See individual titles for more information. ~Deanne
