Description
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is present to hear it, does it still make a sound? Exploring this question and countless others is at the heart of this newest course in the Apologia Elementary series. Offering fourteen lessons to be completed at your child's individual pacing, topics covered include a general introduction to chemistry and matter from a Biblical perspective, types of matter, the building blocks of creation, compound chemistry, mixtures, Newton's laws, gravity, forms of energy (including renewable energy), sound, light and spectrum of colors, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, simple machines and much more. Hands-on activities abound! Children will make smoke bombs, lava lamps and even create a periodic table from sugar cookies (YUM!). Notebook activities are plentiful in the text book, although an optional notebook is also available to enhance the learning experience. Author Jeannie Fulbright has once again given homeschool families a powerful tool for teaching science to our children. A complete supply list is found at the back of the book, although prepackaged science kits are available for your convenience. ~Deanne
Publisher's Description of Exploring Creation with Chemistry & Physics Text

Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics is a homeschool science course for elementary grades K-6 and part of our Young Explorer Series authored by Jeannie Fulbright. For over 11 years in a row, The Young Explorer Series has been voted the #1 homeschool science for elementary grades.

Introduce your children to the fascinating world of chemistry and physics! The activities and projects in this course are sure to delight and inspire your young minds. They'll begin by exploring the basic building blocks of creation, atoms and molecules, and then journey through simple chemicals, the laws of motion, and energy in its many forms, before discovering concepts of electricity and magnetism. Along the way, your students will make a bouncy ball, formulate a smoke bomb, build a solar oven, construct a working periscope, fashion a miniature motor, and create a lava lamp! All the while, God will be glorified as the Master Designer of all that they're discovering about the world and how it works. This exciting course will give your students a love for learning and confidence in science that will carry them through the school years and beyond.

It is an engaging way to teach your young students just how God made everything in the universe. Jeannie Fulbright presents a scientifically sound and God-honoring study that covers atoms, molecules, simple chemicals, laws of motion, electricity, magnetism, and simple machines.

Great book
My kids loved this science book. The experiments were fun and easy to do! I had most of the items needed without needing to plan ahead. This science study is what got my child interested in chemistry and physics. Well written and easy to understand!

Takes the hassle out of experiments
I ordered this kit after much consideration, and am happy with it so far. In our previous science text, there were many good experiments that I didn't do with my kids because it seemed we were always missing important items. This chemistry kit makes it very easy to do all the experiments and my kids keep begging to do more!

Should One Judge a Book By its Cover? -- Probably
On the cover of all the books in this series, sunbeam enters the prism from the upper right and is bent toward the apex so that it exits toward the upper left, and the light is separated into a spectrum of its constituent colors. A simpler illustration on p. 170 also bends light toward the apex, and the red color is bent the most. Isaac Newton’s illustration bends the light away from the apex of his prism. When I put a prism in a sunbeam, the light is bent away from the apex, and the red is bent least. Do the experiment yourself before you purchase this book.

Great Reaource
This is my second Elementary Science book from Apologia and it has a TON of scientific experiments in it. My almost first grader and I have been studying it this summer. Perfectly written to read aloud with natural pauses where the experiments come into play.

Great curriculum
This is the 2nd book in this series we have done. It's a very well written science curriculum. It is full of knowledge and wonderful, easy experiments to go along with the lessons. Personally, I think there is plenty to do without using the journal.
