Publisher's Description of Math Mammoth Grade 2-A Worktext (2012 Edition, Black & White)
The four main areas of study for second grade are:
Understanding of the base-ten system within 1000. This includes place value with three-digit numbers, skip- counting in fives, tens, and multiples of hundreds, tens, and ones (within 1000). (chapters 6 and 8);
Develop fluency with addition and subtraction within 100, including solving word problems, regrouping in addition, and regrouping in subtraction (chapters 1, 3, 4, and 8);
Using standard units of measure (chapter 7);
Describing and analyzing shapes (chapter 5).
Additional topics we study are time/clock (chapter 2), money (chapter 9), introduction to multiplication (chapter 10), and bar graphs and picture graphs (in various chapters).

Describing and analyzing shapes.
Additional topics studied are time, money, bar graphs and picture graphs.
Multiplication is introduced.
Each grade level requires two Student Worktexts-one per semester-which
includes the instruction and math problems in one, and the Answer Key containing answers to the Worktexts and Tests. The Test/Cumulative Review Book
is recommended. Grade Level Packages consist of four components: Student
Worktexts A & B, the Tests/Cumulative Reviews Book, and the Answer Key.
A very clear approach to math content. My daughter loves the suggested online games for further practice, and the teaching videos are also helpful! A great, affordable curriculum.

I'm So Happy I Found These Books!!
When I started homeschooling, I was thrown off by the order math was taught in most curriculum books. Most math books skipped around, there were no connections or build up on subjects. I love these books because they make everything easy. It's like having the teacher, notes, and practice all together and easy to understand for the kid to read.

Super curriculum, as always
We have been using Math Mammoth for Grade 1 through Pre-Algebra for all of our children. It doesn't limit you to Common Core, it teaches for thorough understanding. Various approaches for each topic are instructed.

No need to buy manipulatives
My child likes this book. It is a challenge, but she is able to understand the concepts with little explanation and help from me. She would rather practice in a workbook than use hands-on manipulatives, so this is a great fit for her. (It is designed so that you can use simple household objects, though, if needed.). I spent a lot of time researching math programs, and this is one of the best. And the price is very reasonable. It provides many online activities to practice the concepts as well. We recommend it!
