This introductory program teaches 64 commonly used words and phrases grouped by themes: basic etiquette and daily routines, family members, body parts, objects, basic math, and interests (color-coded for easy use). Vocabulary is selected from all parts of speech so you can create simple sentences. The emphasis is on spoken language, but written is included on each flashcard. One side shows a picture indicating the meaning with 1-inch Chinese characters written in traditional character calligraphy. Pinyin pronunciation and tone indications are written below. The card's other side includes words and sentences in English and Chinese. The kit contains 64 cards, a wall chart including many of the vocabulary words, and an 85-page learning guide showing each track of the audio CD (which includes songs, poems, and a multiplication table). Looking for spoken Chinese (Mandarin) lessons for my 6 year old. This has an audio CD as well as flashcards. Just ordering, so we'll see.
