Description

The Teacher's Guide contains the schedules; materials and supplies lists; teaching tips for hands-on projects and the writing skills used throughout the book; the body of each lesson and instructions for all activities. Upper elementary ages (8-11 years) would begin with Level D if they need to learn to identify and use proper grammar and punctuation, how to choose strong words, brainstorming before writing, writing a paragraph, writing research-based articles, or self-editing and revising their own work. This level could be stretched into grades 6-7 for a child with learning struggles (although the worksheets may seem childish). Children who are comfortable with basic sentence structure and have learned basic paragraph skills would begin with Level E.

WriteShop Junior was exactly what I was looking for! It is easy to use all the steps are laid out clearly in the book and I had no trouble teaching the materials and there was very little prep time needed! My 3rd and 4th grader also love it and like the different genres that are taught throughout the year and the way the material is presented The sheet in the Activity Packet are very helpful as well and guide the children through the process of writing

Is the teacher's guide necessary or can I just use the activity pack?

I believe the teacher's manual is necessary. It gives a great over view of the program. It also has the lesson plans in it, where the activity pack only has the extra pieces to go with the lesson plans. Then advanced prep tips, directions as well as extra ideas.
