Description

Your mission, should you choose to accept it band together with your teammates, don your Adventurer identity, and race around a sinking island, trying to capture the hidden treasures and escape before it all disappears under the churning sea! That, in a nutshell, is the concept behind this innovative cooperative game. The game consists of 24 beautifully illustrated, double-sided island tiles, four treasure figurines, Treasure cards, Flood cards, Adventurer cards, pawns, and a water meter. To begin, lay out the 24 tiles in a group, with the treasures close by. Six Flood cards are played, and their corresponding island tiles are flooded, and flipped to their blue-shaded "underwater" side. At this point, players are randomly dealt Adventurer cards, and take the matching pawns. Each Adventurer has a role (Engineer, Navigator, Pilot, etc.), and slightly different abilities than his/her teammates. As the game begins, players (although taking turns) act as a team to accomplish treasure-gathering, shoring up flooded tiles, and (hopefully!) keeping everyone on stable parts of the island. On each turn, players can take several actions including moving their pawn, shoring up flooded tiles, giving Treasure cards to another player, or capturing a treasure. After they have completed their actions, they draw Treasure cards and Flood cards. This is the most unpredictable part of the game, as you never know when you will trigger a rising water level which increases the number of Flood cards you have to draw on every turn! Flood cards dictate which tiles on the island are "flooded." If tiles aren't shored up and a Flood card matching that tile is drawn again, the tile is permanently removed from the island and the island shrinks. Once you begin, it's a race against time to gather the treasures (and keep the tiles that hold treasures from sinking!), and leave the island as a group. If you fail to gather one or more treasures, or you lose a teammate the game is over and you lose. You'll find your whole team strategizing together and breathlessly watching each other draw the fateful Flood cards. Truly unique, this pulse-pounding game is a bit different every time you play and a great team strategy game too! Highly, highly recommended. For 2-4 players. Jess

The whole family enjoys it!
Our family has really enjoyed this game! It took a while to read all of the rules initially, but it’s pretty straightforward. I know it says it’s for older kids, but my 7&6 year old play it together after learning how. I love that it’s a cooperative game and my kids work together at it…totally changes the dynamics of gaming together.

Forbidden Island
This is a well-designed game. It's so refreshing to be playing together for a common goal rather than competing with each other!

A Great Cooperative Strategy Game
We really enjoy how you have to work together to defeat the game -- it's a unique twist on games and makes for lots of family fun. Typically quick (maybe 30 minutes?), it makes for an easy game to pull out for family fun that doesn't take an hour or more. I highly recommend it! We'll be buying some of the other games in this "series."

Fun & easy strategic team game
My family loves this game! I have a 9 & 12 year old son and daughter. I appreciate that we play as a team. The initial direction reading seemed daunting but we all mastered it quickly with no problem. We are new to this style of game play; took a chance and I’m glad we did. Strategic thinking; beautiful cards.

Super fun cooperation game!
I got this for my son’s 7th birthday. I’ve had my eye on the Pandemic game but due to the circumstances (as well as his age—still a little too challenging for him), I didn’t think it was appropriate for my sons 7 and 10. My 7 year old really likes cooperation games like Race to the Treasure and Busytown but wanted something more challenging. This game was perfect, it has a nice heart racing factor, more rules to follow from the younger games, but still easy enough for my 7 year old to understand. I also know we will have this for a long time as the game pieces are sturdy.

Versatile, intriguing and great for all ages
This game comes highly recommended by my whole family--from the youngest (5) to the oldest (49)! We've played numerous times in the short time we've owned the game--it's easy to set up, quick to learn, and challenging for all. I like that the players have to work together and problem-solve to win the game, but the collaboration doesn't feel contrived or forced. I'd highly recommend this game to kids and adults alike who like to strategize or would like to learn.

I got this game for my 11 year old daughter for Christmas It ended up being the hit game amongst the cousins ages 11 13 15 21 The directions are long and daunting at first I sat down by myself and walked through it before playing with my daughter It is a cooperative game where everyone needs to work together in order to get off the island with all the treasures before the island sinks I would recommend it

Teamwork, character building

Eager for a cooperative game.

This is a cooperative game that we actually enjoy! It makes for a fun adult/older child game to play when folks get together.

It seems to be a cooperative game for an older crowd, looks fun, and is less than $20.
