Publisher's Description of Ruby CD-ROM Test Masters
The Ruby Test Masters CD has vocabulary tests, a test for each prose selection, and unit tests with questions on comprehension and the literary element featured in the unit. An essay question asks the student to demonstrate understanding of the genre, literary component, or unit theme taught. The test masters can be used as an independent assignment, review, or as a student test before progressing to the next lesson.
Ruby features thought-provoking selections by authors including Elizabeth
Friedrich, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Carol Fisher Saller while providing a
foundation for building strong language, reasoning, and writing skills. The
book enables the student reader to explore universal themes like courage,
loyalty, compassion, and fair play through short stories. An innovative
extensive poetry unit comprised of six dynamic lessons introduces fourth
grade learners to the pleasure of understanding poetry and its complexity.
Visually appealing Texts are organized
by story elements and include author biographies, vocabulary, footnotes,
and “Blueprints for Reading” to encourage analytical skills. The consumable
Workbooks include vocabulary activities, comprehension questions, writing
activities, and graphic organizers. The comprehensive Teacher’s Editions (two
volumes at this level) contain reduced student pages, background teaching
information, discussion questions with answers, answers to the questions
found at the end of each selection, answers to workbook questions, and
creative writing assignment pointers. Effective use of the course requires the
Textbook, Workbook, and Teacher’s Editions which are conveniently available in the Homeschool Bundle.
This will be my first one using Mosdos Press. The test are set up per lesson or story and there's also vocabulary test to go with each story. After 4 or 5 stories there is a unit test and an essay question based not the stories you read and discussed all week. I like that you get to read a story and discuss it and break it down with your child before testing them. I highly recommend teacher books to go with this program. The test cd is great because it can be used over and over and passed along to other kids
