Description
Category Description for Chosen Daughters Series

The Chosen Daughter series are wonderful pieces of historical fiction. Each one depicts the life of a courageous woman in history who allowed herself to be used by God. Christine Farenhorst writes two books in the series: A Cup of Cold Water and Wings like a Dove. The first one is based on the life of Edith Cavel, a WWI nurse who faced death assisting allied soldiers. The second highlights the life of Jeanne D'Albret, a queen who risked her life hiding persecuted Huguenots. In Against the Tide, written by Hope Irvin Marston, the story of Margaret Wilson and the dilemma she faced is recounted - to remain obedient to Christ or follow the orders of the king. Lastly, Dr. Oma by Ethel Herr captures the life of Countess Juliana von Stolberg, a gifted healer, and her granddaughter Maria. Weight of a Flame takes place at the height of the Reformation in the 16th Century. Olympia Morata is determined to remain firm in the Truth, despite the dangers of not following Roman Catholicism. She's off to Ferrara to tutor the duchess' oldest daughter, but it turns out that this might only be the first stop on a long journey that will take her far away from home. All are paperback, around 200 pages. - Tasha
