Publisher's Description of Unifix Reading Phonics Word-Building Cards
Build words with Unifix Letter Cubes. Set includes 50 two-sided, illustrated cards to practice blends and digraphs, short vowels, silent "e" pattern, and common vowel teams. Grades 1-2.
Unifix cubes that are phonics manipulatives? What a great idea! Children build words by connecting cubes. Available as sets of color-coded cubes, card sets, activities books, and kits, the manipulatives-based phonics instruction centers around 5/8 inch vinyl cubes that can be joined and which are printed with consonants, vowels, and blends/digraphs; lowercase letters on one side and uppercase on the other. Consonant cubes are blue; vowels, red; initial blends, green; ending blends, yellow; and medial vowels (two vowel combinations), orange. The double-sided picture cards provide self-checking, word-building opportunities using the cubes. The Activities books continue the word-building instruction plus give letter/word handwriting practice. The phonics kits provide grade level, multi-sensory phonemic awareness using combinations of these items. ~ Janice
