Medical Investigation 101 Workbook
Welcome to the Medical Investigation 101 Workbook. This workbook aligns with and supplements the material from Medical Investigation 101. It provides opportunities to reinforce and measure your learning from each chapter. The more medical terminology you master, and the more you understand about medical investigation, the better your preparation for future encounters with healthcare providers. Understanding how to transfer techniques for solving medical investigations to your analysis of decisions you make in your everyday life will serve you well. Understanding treatment modalities on the horizon can help you ask better questions and make better decisions when treatment options are discussed with your own physician. Should you find yourself pondering healthcare career choices, realizing the myriad of options may provide some light at the end of that tunnel. The workbook includes assignments for each chapter and includes vocabulary research, reinforcing word match, and crossword puzzle. Assignments related to chapter content help galvanize important information and concepts. Extending activities provide an opportunity to think deeper and outside the box. We encourage teachers to utilize the materials to foster improved medical terminology and understanding of the healthcare system in all students. Whether students already demonstrate interest in healthcare careers, or simply care about how to communicate effectively with their physicians, everyone should find something of value in the material. Thank you for choosing to enhance your Medical Investigation 101 by utilizing this workbook. We hope you find it useful.
Take a deeper look at the human body and the detective work necessary to help people live healthy lives through this self-paced course that builds upon basic anatomy. Students are introduced to various health science careers and the medical diagnostic process: the chief complaint (reason for visit), medical history, body system review and the medical examination. They will also learn how to identify possible diseases and the analysis required to determine the correct diagnosis. The SOAP method of documentation is taught that helps organize thoughts to arrive at correct conclusions. Students are presented with numerous medical investigations covering most body systems and common health issues including diabetes, food poisoning, viruses and bacteria, and emergencies. As a former RN, I found this to be an engaging and fun course that provides an excellent introduction to understanding the process of identifying a person's presenting symptoms and critical thinking skills necessary for arriving at an accurate conclusion.
