Reason for Handwriting Kindergarten Beginning Manuscript Student Workbook
- This revised kindergarten handwriting book includes more handwriting practice and follows a 5-day weekly schedule
- Students learn lowercase and uppercase letters and trace Bible verses
Replacing the previous handwriting book for kindergarten, this one includes more handwriting practice. Starting with ten pages of prewriting skills, the letters are then taught in a traditional style using parts of a treehouse (roofline, ceiling, floor, ground, etc.) as a visual. Following a 5-day schedule, each of the 33 lessons take a week to complete. Two new letters are introduced each week. On day 5, students review and help complete a Bible verse by tracing the letters they learned that week. Lowercase letters are taught first, then uppercase. By the end of the book, students are tracing whole words in the Bible verses instead of just letters. Handwriting lines are one inch with a dotted midline. Pages are perforated for easy tear out. 220 pgs, pb. ~ Gina
Kindergarten Beginning Manuscript is a completely new addition to the A Reason For Handwriting program. Recommended for Kindergarten / K5 classes, it introduces students to proper letter formation.
The brightly-illustrated book features animals and God's creation. After reviewing the basic strokes used in letter formation, students will first trace, then move on to writing upper and lower case manuscript letters in weekly lessons. Each day's lesson can be completed in only 10-15 minutes.
At the end of each week, students trace words or letters in a Scripture verse, then decorate one of our exclusive Border Sheets. Completed sheets can be taken home to parents, shared with loved ones, or used in outreach through the school or church.
The Beginning Manuscript worktext begins with 2 weeks reviewing the strokes used in letter formation. This section is followed by 33 weekly lessons — 13 focusing on lower case letters, 13 for upper case, and seven lessons reviewing all of the letters. For additional review, each lesson includes an optional practice page.
Please note: this all-new worktext DOES NOT align with the Comprehensive Teacher Guidebook. A free PDF teacher guide will be available for download in August 2024.
An appealing, full-color Christian handwriting program that provides instruction and practice in handwriting (traditional style) with about 30 lessons per level (except for K which has 49). Each level has a letter designation, with a whole book for transition from manuscript to cursive in between B and C. The newly updated 2023 Transition book (Level T) is designed to replace either Level B (preferred) or Level C (a later transition for students needing extra manuscript practice) facilitating a mid-year transition from manuscript to cursive. Starting in Book C, all handwriting is cursive. In the more advanced levels, discussion questions accompany the weekly Bible verse. One more issue to note is the height of the lines; they are smaller in the cursive section of the Transition Book or Book C (3/8") than in the previous books (manuscript books have 5/8" lines). Each student workbook (except K level) contains a large back section of border sheets (nicely lined and bordered papers…one per lesson) as a weekly challenge for students to write their scripture verses on them "in their best handwriting." (Scripture verses are taken from the Living Bible.) The student desk card shows manuscript and cursive letters on a personal-sized card, or you can put the big letters up on the wall using the alphabet wall sheets. One comprehensive teacher's guide covers the whole series. Please note that sets are also available, which include the student book and teacher guide at a discount.
