Best out there for a big family!
I used this curriculum @20 years ago with my oldest bunch of kiddos and loved it. I saved it to use with my youngest kiddos and never used it, for one reason not another. We moved to a small home and I just didn't have storage space, so I decided to get rid of it. Well
I regretted it! Repurchased it for this year and the younger kids are enjoying it too! It just fits our family style very well.

A World of Adventure (will not disappoint)
We absolutely are smitten with this! Its the unit study with reins that gives you permission to hold the reins tighter or looser or let go altogether! We have been through a plethora of curriculum through my many years of homeschooling. One child left to go and scratching my head to find his fit. AWOA just showed up as a feature item in a recent Rainbow Resource newsletter. That and actually calling the author and speaking and asking my specific questions, before we purchased, so as it would not end up in our recycle pile. Really Dorian Holt is a gem to speak with and doesnt spare the details of this pearl of a curriculum. I cant say enough about how its priceless. Please read RR reviews and if your relentless for the right fit for your child call the author.
My reluctant learner finds it engages him yet not in a contrived , disassociated way. There are ample selections to either do or choose from, but the best part is Dorian has fleshed out the meat of it for our sanity. Its like being at a buffet banquet, you can overeat or come away satisfied and be in the drivers sest.
My question is How did this ever get by my radar for this long?

Love it!
We have greatly enjoyed this curriculum so far! Such a great structure but also free enough to explore out further into anything you desire! Very hands on and easy to use with multiple age levels!

We have used various unit studies throughout our homeschooling experience and I feel this is comparable to others we've used The curriculum is well written and I did not have to guess as to what to do or what things we needed to proceed There was some preparation on my part as the teacher mostly in locating library books The student workbook pages make the curriculum even easier on me as a teacher in that I don't have to write a bunch of sentences on the board It also makes it easier on the kids in that they only need to correct and fill in the blanks There is no extra unnecessary writing on their part and for kids who hate to write that's a definite plus Since I had a 8th grader and 5th grader this year I thought this would work well for them I soon learned however that the language portion of the work seemed a bit easy for 8th grade work Personally if I were rating it I would put it more on a 4th-6th grade level as far as language goes The historical portion was well suited for 4th-8th grade level although some of the science material we have covered in previous years but there is no fault in the curriculum it just happens that we had already studied some of those subjects We definitely enjoyed several of the recipes that were included Some of which have gone into our permanent menu selection Overall I would recommend this to anyone considering using a unit study approach with a very serious suggestion to supplement the grammar portion especially with upper grade levels

This was our first year to use A World of Adventure and we absolutely loved it! This is a very easy to use thorough and interesting curriculum I love the fact that all areas of study are combined This definitely increased my sons interest level in subjects that he would otherwise find boring such as language arts He loved learning the key elements of literature and continues to refer to them when discussing a book he is currently reading I especially like that this curriculum uses primarily library books which is a huge blessing to our family budget! A World of Adventure is affordable flexible and above all fun and we will definitely continue with A New World of Adventure

A World of Adventure has made this the best school year we've ever had! My children are 3rd and 5th grade and have always been homeschooled We've tried other unit studies but always got bogged down with planning or doing crafts This program is so well-thought out I can hardly believe it All subjects are covered except math and typing We are doing a separate spelling program but spelling is included if you choose to use hers The day starts with Bible--even the Bible lessons correlate with the history There are great read-alouds Science is very thorough as well It reminds me of some of the materials we've used from Apologia Even language arts are covered--grammar and writing lessons are all pulled from the day's reading Other than the read-alouds no specific books are required--just what you have or can find at the library which is a big money saver Oh and Fine Arts are also included--wonderful projects that fit in with the study not just something thrown in there to keep kids busy Ms Holt seems to have thought of everything We look forward to using A New World of Adventure next year!
