Publisher's Description of Story of the World Volume 2 Activity Book (Paperback)
The Activity Book turns The Story of the World Volume 2: Middle Ages into a full year of history and geography study! Provides curated reading lists, map work, coloring pages, review questions, exercises, and hands-on projects to bring modern history to life. Includes teacher instructions and one set of consumable student pages.

Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off, and tells the fascinating story of the "Dark Ages," from the fall of Rome through the Renaissance. Like the preceding book, this story of history doesn't limit itself to a dry, white-bread-without-the-crusts retelling of a primarily European history, instead it is a rich, whole-wheat blend of European, Indian, Chinese, Australian, Arabic, Japanese, Jewish, Mongolian, Turkish, African, Russian, Australian and American history during the period. Fascinating topics abound here, including knights, samurai, Vikings, the rise of Islam, the Crusades, Genghis Khan and the Mongols, the Plague, the Mayans, the Incas, Marin Luther, the Reformation, the discovery of the Americas, and much more. A timeline and an index are included at the back. Revised in 2007, this 2nd edition text is available in hc or pb, and activity book is paperback.

It's good for older elementary
I got this book because it is required for my 2nd grader. I think it is alright. It reinforces lessons learned in the book but my daughter is young. I also use FIAR at and she really enjoys that part of school more because it uses picture books for the lessons. If it was not required reading I would not purchase this again for someone so young. Maybe fourth grade to sixth grade level would work better.

Love this book
The book is full of activities, crafts and other hands-on projects. I know I won’t be able to cover all 40+ chapters in a year but at least I know that each chapter topic is so well done and covered that my children will have a good grasp of history.

Nice Activity Book
I wouldn't purchase the textbook without the activity book. It's what makes the curriculum work. This one is quite heavy. I use stick on tabs to keep my place in the various sections.
