Old World Echoes is an anthology reader that includes poems, stories, folktales, and biographies from the respective time periods. Reading selections are separated into weeks that correspond to the Classical Conversations scope and sequence. Stories include illustrations (both color and black/white). An introductory section gives information on asking questions, narration and working with NAMES; a mnemonic device for profiting from literature that stands for Naming, Attending, Memorizing, Expressing, and Storytelling.

The reading is designed to take no more than 30 minutes each day. Stories correspond with the Cycle 2 geography, featuring stories from England, France, Germany, Russia, the Middle East, Japan, Korea, and more.
These stories were compiled and edited by Jennifer Courtney, a homeschool mom for over 15 years who graduated with a degree in English and loves reading aloud with her own children.
