Q. What grade level is Easy Grammar Plus?

A. Easy Grammar Plus is a non-grade level text; therefore, it has wide application. Although the text is ideal for seventh grade, it is used by various middle schools (junior highs), high schools, and in some colleges.

Q. What is the difference between Easy Grammar texts and Easy Grammar Ultimate Series texts?

A. Easy Grammar texts include Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Plus. Grades 2-6 are for elementary students. Concepts are taught within sequential grammar units, beginning with prepositions. Using this approach, sentences are stripped to basics, enabling students to understand subject and verb and to build throughout each text.

EG Plus will give any student beyond Grade 6 a solid, basic understanding of grammar. It's especially popular because the text is written at a fourth-grade reading level. Therefore, students can focus on concepts. Like the other Easy Grammar texts, concepts are taught within sequential grammar units. Using a prepositional approach, sentences are stripped to basics for students to identify subject and verb and to build on more challenging topics such as subject-verb agreement, predicate nominatives, and correct usage in all areas.

The Easy Grammar Ultimate Series texts are similar to both Easy Grammar and. The texts are like Easy Grammar in that they are Ateaching texts. Concepts relating to phrases, clauses, compound-complex sentences, and other higher-level concepts (as well as basics) are presented in a 180 daily lesson format found in Daily GRAMS texts. Concepts are introduced, reintroduced, applied, expanded, etc. throughout each text. See the "Scope and Sequence" for each EGUS level: Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12.

Category Description for Easy Grammar Series

Mastery of basic grammar facts. Independent student work. Lots of review and practice. That's what Easy Grammar provides. It's convenient and takes no teacher prep time. The general idea is to introduce grammar gently to young students (Easy Grammar Daily Guided Teaching, grades 1-2). The middle school years (grades 3-7) focus on systematic instruction and provide lots of practice to master the basics as well as daily review. The secondary years (Easy Grammar Ultimate, grades 8-12) continue daily review, coupled with some advanced instruction. The courses vary in structure at different grade levels. Grades 3-6 are similar in structure but grade-level appropriate. Easy Grammar Plus is a course that can be used either in 7th grade or as a complete grammar review for older students. Daily Grams, available for grades 3-7, supplements and complements the EG series by providing daily review.

Each grade level Teacher Edition provides bite-size lessons, student practice and assessment pages, and those same pages with answers filled in. Both the practice pages and the tests are reproducible for families. Student Workbooks include lesson and practice pages. Test Books (available for Grades 3 and up) provide pre and post tests as well as sectional tests. Grade level Sets include the Teacher Edition, Student Book and Test Book (if available for that level).

LOVE this curriculum
I really wish I had bought this sooner. My son had struggles with grammar all through elementary school. Within the first week, he even agreed that this method was the best, and even complex sentences have become easy for him to 'take apart.' Thank you!!!

I began using Easy Grammar this year with my son who has Down Syndrome I selected a level which was below his actual grade in homeschool but was very much surprised with the results I did not need to adapt the curriculum other than to add additional practice as needed (minimal) Not only was he able to quickly and easily learn grammar but I found myself learning with him I even used some of the instruction/ examples to make it easier for my older students to review areas where they were weak

We use a Charlotte Mason style of education in our home which recommends putting off the teaching of formal grammar until children are around 5th or 6th grade This is what we have done in our homeschool and I have been incredibly pleased with the results However this left me searching for a curriculum that would give my children a comprehensive overview of grammar while still starting at the beginning and assuming the student has no prior formal grammar instruction Enter Easy Grammar Plus! This grammar program was exactly what I was looking for! It's simple enough for a 5th grader but comprehensive enough for an older student as well and it's all included in the one book! No need to purchase a different book for every year or for different age students It's simple to follow and self-directed so mom doesn't have to do any prep work This is one curriculum that follows through with it's name and makes grammar exactly what it claims it can be-Easy!

I just want to say that I agree with everything these other reviewers said I had been homeschooling for years but could never find a grammar "curriculum" that was easy to understand that I could also use for all my children This is by far the best I have ever seen I just wish I was taught this way!

This series in my opinion is by far the most non- frustrating grammar program available We are a home school family of 12 years My children were so thrown off course when I would try to change up a year here and there by using a different English Curriculum They "grasp" grammar with ease using this WONDERFUL program Isn't that our goal?

I used this with my highschooler who has a learning disability although this would help any child He loved it He loved the "cross out prepositional phrases" first method He was taught in the school system public and private during his elementary years and he said he wished he had learned grammar in this fashion This curriculum is very easy to understand and is based on mastery Each topic is addressed one at a time I have the red (teachers) edition which you can allow the student to write in I used construction paper to cover the answers which were on the opposite page This was fine since I was always in the room teaching the younger children However I copied the tests in order for him to have his own without being tempted to peak A student book and a test booklet are available with all of the worksheets so that is an option

(Please do not print my full name) I tried lots of different grammar curriculums over the years (A Beka Bob Jones Winston Grammar Shurley Grammar) with my dyslexic student and this is the one that really enabled her to learn grammar There is sufficient review of each topic Although I am willing to do lots of teaching myself she mostly learned the material from this easy to understand book I did no teacher preparation Learning to eliminate the prepositional phrases eliminates a lot of mistakes at the outset Easy Grammar teaches one thing at a time For example if the student is to circle adjectives the sentence is not full of adverbs which would be confusing When teaching indirect objects they have the helpful idea of telling the student that the word "to" could be used instead ("Give me the ball" or "Give the ball to me" In the first sentence "me" is an indirect object) They explain simply how to distinguish between "to" used as a preposition and "to" used as an infinitive The explanations are simple and clear

Why did you choose this?

I just want a basic grammar curriculum with lots of review.

My kid loves this Grammar curriculum. The lessons make sense and the skills build upon each other.

I've used the Easy Grammer products for almost 20 years. They are a tried & true resource for grammar - why choose something else?

This is a good, no-nonsense grammar program. It doesn't have a lot of fluff or distracting pages, but it isn't overly complicated either.

Do I need to buy the student workbook, in addition to the teacher book?

I did. Here's why - while the teacher book does include the student worksheets, they are not perforated and the answers to the NEXT worksheet are on the back of that days student worksheet, which means you would have to make a copy of each student worksheet. The teacher book is 1 1/2 inches thick and I did not want to have to be smashing the book on the copier to get each student worksheet. It is well worth the money to get the student book for these reasons alone, plus it saves you time, the child doesn't have to wait for you to make copies if you didn't get all the worksheets printed ahead of time. When mom is already busy with other children, laundry, meals, correcting tests etc. It is nice to have it all done for you in their own book.

Is this one book used throughout all of middle school and high school?

Easy Grammar Plus is a one year course that focuses on mastery of grammar basics. It can be used in the middle school years as systematic grammar instruction or in the high school years as a review course.

Easy Grammar Plus vs Easy Grammar Grade 6. Which would be better for a 7th grader (in second semester) who hasn't had grammar instruction since 4th grade?

Either edition would do great but I like the Easy Grammar Plus for my 13 yr old son, who has dyslexia. You get the same basic information but with a bit more depth for the older student. It really depends on your students reading comprehension skills and your level of participation, if they struggle to understand written direction or if you can't devote half hour to focus on this with your student, then the Grade 6 is better. Hope this helps.
