Get on Board Game
What do Businessmen, Students, Tourists and Older Ladies have in common? In this Flip and Write game for 2-5 players, they are all passengers that ride the bus on routes that players plan and commandeer.
The challenge in this game is to take passengers to their requested locations during 12 rounds, avoid traffic and meet group and personal objectives by picking up the most passengers you can before dropping them off in their matching destinations. Optimizing your bus routes in these ways helps earn the most victory points to win the game.
Basic Setup:
1. Players choose from five colors and take their matching route markers and departure token.
2. Each person receives a player sheet and pencil. The game contains five different sheet types, which have varying ticket numbers and shapes affiliated with them. These shapes will determine the parameters of each segment of your bus route.
3. Choose the New York side of the main board if there are 2-3 players and the London Map for 4-5 players.
4. Shuffle the common objective cards and place two faceup on the board. These cards show either a specific passenger type or destination that players will try to route through. The first player that successfully meets these goals containing either five passenger types or three destinations receives ten points while other players receive six points for their completion.
5. Each player receives one personal objective card. These cards require the bus route to connect three intersections on the board through your bus route to earn ten victory points.
6. Shuffle Bus Ticket Cards and deal two to each person. Players choose one and place their departure token on its matching city’s bus station.
7. Shuffle all Bus Ticket Cards to create a deck. These cards have a number and color that determine route parameters for each of the 12 rounds of the game.
Game Play:
Players take the following two actions each turn:
1. Take One Bus Ticket and Place Route Markers: The first player takes a bus ticket from the board, which contains a bus ticket number. These numbers match those on the player sheets. Each player places the indicated shape and number of route markers required for that ticket. Players cross off that ticket number on their sheet. As each person places their markers, they take the common and personal route goals into account as well as trying to pick up the required passengers before they reach their matching destinations.
2. Board the Bus: Using the route markers that were placed, cross off the spaces on your player sheet that match. There are specific rules for each of the passenger categories that are in the instruction book for the game. At the end of this phase, check whether you have finished any of the common objectives and score them based on whether you are the first player to complete it.
3. The first Player Changes for next round: Pass the inspector pawn to the next clockwise player.
4. Game End: Once all twelve of the bus tickets are drawn and player sheets marked, players add up their total points and the person with the most points wins.
