Rainbow Card Game
There are better rewards than a pot of gold or a dancing leprechaun.
The Rainbow Card Game is
colorful, compact, quick, and fun! This two-player game packs all the greens,
blues, reds, yellows, teals, oranges, and purples you could ever want in a
head-to-head challenge to collect the most rainbow cards and points to win the
game!
Shuffle the card deck and place it in the holder between
the players. In addition to the seven color cards, there are wild cards, and
grey (cloud) cards which benefit your opponent. The goal is to complete a
six-color rainbow that appears in a shared line in the middle of the table. To
start, both players draw three cards from their side of the deck as a starting
hand. Each card is two-sided, and players only view the side facing them when
they are drawn.
Players take turns being the active player who places a card face-up in the middle of the table.
They may choose to place the side they have not viewed when none of other cards in their hand is beneficial to play. They can play more than one card per turn if they are willing to flip over an existing card on the table. When their turn ends, they check to see if any of the following are true:
1. Are the cards on the table all distinct colors? Wild cards may appear more than once. If so, all is well, and the next player starts their turn.
2. Is there more than one card with the same color in the line that is not wild? If so, their opponent receives all the cards in the line and puts them in their capture pile.
3. Is there a cloud (grey) card in the line? If so, their opponent wins all the cards for their capture pile.
4. Are there six cards of distinct colors and no cloud card? The Rainbow came out! The active player places the cards in their capture pile.
At the end of
their turn, the active player draws their hand back up to three cards. The
other player becomes the active player and continues with their turn. Turns
alternate until a player meets a condition that results in card collection. The
player who did not collect any cards on their capture pile starts the next
round. The game ends when there are not enough cards left for a player to draw
their hand up to three cards. If there
are three or more cards on the table, the other player may take one more
turn. The player with the most cards in
their capture pile wins!
because you may need to flip that card over at some point in the game - and you better know what's on the other side of that card! Such a fun game that can be enjoyed over and over again. Play on!
