Publisher's Description of Nancy Drew Starter Set #'s 1-5
The first five books in this iconic series are packaged together in a collectible box set with an updated design. Titles included are #1 The Secret of the Old Clock, #2 The Hidden Staircase, #3 The Bungalow Mystery, #4 The Mystery at Lilac Inn, and #5 The Secret of Shadow Ranch.
I had outgrown Encyclopedia Brown and was looking for a new mystery series when Mom ran across some of her old Nancy Drew books at my grandparents' house one visit. Although I looked doubtfully at the old dusty and retro-style covers, I was hooked by the time I got home! What more can I say - Nancy Drew is every girl mystery-lover's hero! Other, more modern Nancy Drew series have been written since, but there's something kind of cool about reading the titles from the ‘50's, picturing Nancy Drew chasing down clues in her trusty Mustang—and in a skirt, too! Exciting, well-written, and wholesome, there are plenty of great mysteries to enjoy here. I just wonder how they kept coming up with good cases to write more! All mysteries are hardcover with the original cover artwork. And at this price, you can afford for your kids to get hooked on Nancy Drew, too!
