Description

Ultimatch from Fireside Games is a cooperative or solitaire card game with the goal of removing all cards from a pyramid by making matches or ultimatches with cards in your hand. There are four different types of basic card matches: 1) number matches; 2) color matches; 3) using two cards in your hand to arrive at a number produced by adding or subtracting them; or 4) a mixed-color match, where two cards in your hand create the color of a card on the pyramid—for example, yellow + blue = purple. To make an Ultimatch, your cards must meet two of the match requirements above—one number match and one color match.
Each time you make a match, remove the pyramid card and discard the card(s) from your hand that were used.  When you make an ultimatch, you also get to draw two additional cards from the deck.  This is important because once all cards in your hand are used, you run out of turns. Win the game by removing all cards from the pyramid before your cards are all used. If you cannot make a match, pass your turn and draw a card from the deck. If all players pass in one round, you lose the game, and if everyone’s card hands are gone, you also lose! This is a nice quick card game for 1-5 players that takes 20 minutes or less to play. Ultimatch nicely uses luck and strategy, is colorful, and its small box makes it easy for travel. ~ Marsha
