Story if the World CDs
These CDs are a great supplement to whatever history you are using. Great for rides in the car, or individual listening. We have used them asking with Master Books World Story 1-3. You need to be a bit creative with when to read which chapter but our now 8th grader loves to use her ear phones at her desk to listen while she works on her time line book each week.

Using it for another round with my younger kids. Great presentation of history with coloring pages and activities. CDs make it much easier!

History on CD
I would recommend this for the busy mom. I know it is better to read aloud, but I am currently folding clothes while we listen to the stories of the world.

I did not discover Story of the World until my children were in 4th and 7th grade We had always used unit studies and so I felt that they knew a lot of history but did not have a grasp of events in chronological order We have been hooked on these audio books since that year We listen to a chapter and then we use our Kingfisher Encyclopedia of History and other books from our personal library and the public library to dig a little deeper I always tell homeschoolers that SOTW is great as a stand alone if you have children in younger grades and it is also great as a "jumping off place" if your children are older It provides an outline that keeps auditory learners focused If you have visual learners I would recommend the book rather than the audiobook Kinesthetic learners will benefit from the short chapters and the activity books Since my children were older and were accustomed to unit studies I did not use the activity books The activity books are truly for younger students as is recommended We also use a timeline to help us remember important people You may want to purchase plastic CD cases at an office supply store ($7) so that you can easily use the CDs

These audiobooks help my reluctant reader engage in his history readings.

My children will listen to each chapter and do the coloring/map work without me this year.

Grandson LOVES listening to this series in the car. He is getting a great big-picture view of world history and cultures as a second-grader.

Is this set on CD? Or downloadable MP3?

it is a set of CD. My son enjoyed them a lot. We would listen in the car most of the time. It definitely made history enjoyable for him.
