Recently updated, this new edition has some nice added features. The teacher’s manual is now in color and has over 150 pages of new material for each level. “Before You Begin” sections and the appendices have been lengthened. There are also more hands-on learning activities.

New to this edition is also a full-color activity book. It includes over 200 pages with a variety of activities and Word Banks! Advanced Application sections give older students who need more of a challenge the opportunity to engage in new concepts with higher-level, multisyllable words. Each level also has custom stickers corresponding to the hero characters for that level. Full-color pull-out posters with spelling rules feature the hero character from each level. A “Progress Chart” and “Certificate of Completion” is also included.

To get started with this program, you will need to purchase the letter tiles and review box (which now includes the divider cards) separately. This is only a one-time purchase to use with all the levels. If you have used the first edition of All About Spelling, you can move on to the next level of the color edition without a problem. However, the first edition teacher’s manual will not work with the new color edition activity book. ~ Gina

The levels 1-3 Materials Set contains the Teacher’s Manual, Student Packet, and Activity Book. The scripted Teacher’s Manuals are open-and-go and include teaching tips and recommended activities for each step. Student Packets contain flashcards, stickers, and other resources needed for the program. Activity Book includes over 200 pages of varied activities and word banks. To get started with the program, you need to purchase the Letter Tiles Kit and Review Box. 

What’s covered in this level: Y as long I, silent E, long vowel teams, r-controlled vowels, third sound of U, soft C and G, third sound of A, and vowel teams OY/OI, AW/AU, OW/OU. Lessons include review, new teaching, using letter tiles to build words, writing words on paper, dictation, and other activities.

Why did you choose this?

We have completed level 1 and see that this publisher just came out with a newer color version of level 2!

We started this curriculum last year for our son, who has some dyslexia. It has worked great and we are ready to move onto the next level.

Because it seems like a mastery program

Love this curriculum! My oldest just finished with the level one which was the older version so I am excited to see if she likes this version a little better.
