MaxScholar workbooks offer additional practice to
support the online lessons found in the MaxScholarOrton-Gillingham ELA
courses (sold separately). Consumable student pages work on spelling rules to
help struggling writers feel more confident. Examples include making words
plural, double letters, y says I, -ge/-dge, contractions,
homonyms, ie and ei, silent-e and more.
Each exercise is on its own page to avoid being visually
overwhelming to the student. In fact, there is a lot of white space in this
workbook. Simple instructions replicate what the student is learning online.
Answers are not in the workbook but can be found online. Spiral-bound, not
reproducible. ~Sara
Publisher's Description of MaxScholar Spelling Rules Workbook
This workbook teaches the Orton-Gillingham spelling rules in a multi-sensory way. These rules are usually very difficult for poor readers, and this workbook provides extensive drills and practice in this area. Some examples of the rules taught include the doubling rule, silent-e rule, homonyms, plurals, ie/ei rules, and contractions.
MaxScholar is an online Orton-Gillingham ELA program
designed to help students with reading challenges. These various skills
workbooks support the lessons from MaxWords (about grades 3-5) and focus
on spelling and vocabulary. The books are consumable and specific, allowing a
parent/teacher to target reinforcement and practice as needed for a particular
student. These are not an essential component to online learning. Online
access sold separately.*
At this level, there are only Student Workbooks (no
Teacher’s Manuals). Answers are found online.
Student Workbooks are black and white and designed to
not be overwhelming. There are grayscale illustrations, and you might see
references to resources found in the back of the book. You are also encouraged
to make your own flashcards.
