Description

Visit four cities in Europe and become the most daring criminal mastermind unless your rival conspires to upset your plans. Do your best to outwit your opponent as you plan capers in Paris, London, Copenhagen and Rome. Choose a different city each game for new challenges and rewards, and whomever scores the most points wins this fast-moving, two-player game.

Caper Europe plays over six rounds with a total game time of about 30 minutes. There are three ways to score points – which are locations, cards (thief and gear), and stolen goods. Here is a basic overview:

  1. There are three different locations on the main Caper board. In each zone, location cards on the board offer end-game bonuses to the player who ends the game with the “tracker” marker closer to their side of the board for that location. If the marker ends in the middle, no one gains the end-game rewards. Sometimes these cards give both players ongoing rewards during the game for playing Thief or Gear cards that meet specific criteria.
  2. In rounds one, three and five, players put Thief Cards underneath any of the location card zones based on specific rewards they can gain for these locations and their Gear Cards in ensuing rounds.
  3. In rounds two, four and six, players draft Gear Cards and play them on top of their Thief Cards. This creates a “crew” comprised of both types of cards. Crews in the same zone work together to earn points with each other and from some of the Location Cards.
  4. Each of the three locations on the board contain different types of goods, which players try to steal to gain points at the end of the game. Complete sets of three different goods award the most points.

The game ends when the sixth round is over with points added for locations, crews and stolen goods. Although this is a quick game, it is strategic with the card choices and placement that players choose. It all ties together for a fun, quick, light and quite pleasant caper experience!
