The 21 chapters cover the balance sheet, income statement, statement of retained earnings, statement of cash flow, transactions, journal entries and accounts, posting to the ledger, chart of accounts, income determination, adjusting entries, closing entries, accrual vs. cash accounting, cash, marketable securities, receivables, payables, inventory, long-term assets, forms of businesses and payroll. Each chapter holds a complete explanation of the topic along with examples. Student exercises are comprised of questions from the reading and problems to practice the principle. This seemed to be more of a thin quick reference book than a text book. I ordered a textbook and workbook from another source - a far better choice!

Too technical
This book is Very technical. If you do not know Anything about accounting this is not the book to start with. "What is Accounting?" is the first lesson. I could try to rewrite the information given in the lesson but I still wouldn't know what it means. (I was hoping for plain English definitions or explanations of accounting jargon.)
