Building Blocks in Life Science
The scientific "war of the worldviews" began as a battle over biology. In the 1600 and 1700s the foundation of biology was laid primarily by Christians who freely used the Bible as the basis of their understanding. But all of this changed in 1859, when Charles Darwin's popular new book, Origin of Species was published. Over the past one hundred and fifty years, his evolutionary worldview has overwhelmingly become the accepted paradigm for the origins of life.
This supplemental resource from Master Books has been written to give young people answers - from Science and from Scripture, ANSWERS that show how Science and the Bible fit together to honor the Creator. Divided into three units, a total of nineteen chapters, it teaches students science from a Biblical perspective and helps them to defend their faith. Each chapter also provides a "Building Inspection" review which includes multiple choice, fill in the blank and short answer questions. Unit One investigates biological change (Darwin vs. Design) and looks at such topics as genes and Genesis, gene pools and variation within kind, species, "change through time" vs. Darwinian change, natural selection, evolution, mutations, and much more. Unit Two covers topics such as descent vs. design, classification and missing links, life before birth, and creation, evolution and the embryo. Unit Three examines DNA and origins including biological molecules, living cells, chemical evolution, evidence of creation, DNA and reproduction, and many other topics. Black & white illustrations, answer key included. 158pgs, pb. ~ Deanne
We occasionally get requests for courses that will prepare students for careers in medicine. Whether interested in being a nurse's aid, nurse, or doctor, this series of planners and books can lay a solid foundation for a medical future. The Basic Pre-Med is ½ credit, and Advanced Pre-Med is a full high school credit. Each is laid out into 180 daily lessons that take 30-45 minutes. Suggested labs are mentioned in the front of each book, but they aren't required and are not written into the schedule. The schedule is in a chart that also provides space for assignment due dates and recording grades. Also included in each planner are worksheets for each chapter, quizzes, tests, and an answer key. Science of Life: Biology is a ½ credit study that covers an introduction to science the first semester and life science in the second semester. The first semester of Basic Pre-Med is microbiology, and the second semester is life science. The books used in Advanced Pre-Med can be studied in the sequence presented or as independent units. Lay the foundation from a biblical worldview and help your students prepare for their future. ~ Donna
