World War II Workbook

Mark Twain Media's book, World War II, for grades 6-12, focuses on bringing to light the decisions and events that led to and were a part of the war. The book highlights the rise of dictators; the beginning of the war; fighting in Europe, Africa, and Asia; naval, air, and land battles; the Holocaust; Allied leaders and strategies; the resolution of the war; and the war's effects on world history. Each lesson includes a reading selection with background information on important people and events, as well as an Activity page and a Recalling Key Details page. The Activity pages feature graphic organizers that allow students to display and organize information in creative ways. Debate topics are also included that give students the opportunity for class or small-group discussion, additional research, and extended writing on various topics. The Recalling Key Details pages are focused on developing reading comprehension skills with matching, true/false, fact/opinion, sequencing, multiple choice, and structured response questions.
