Paragraph Writing for Kids e-book
A foundational goal for strong writing is effective paragraphs: descriptive, narrative, persuasive, expository, and comparative. Use this text as a supplement, or combine with grammar, mechanics, and spelling for a full composition course. The structure of this publication permits educators to tailor pacing and usage to individual needs. Lessons direct students to create each of the 5 paragraphs following the same steps: choose a subject, create details, organize the outline, write a topic sentence, review, order supporting details, write a conclusion, write rough and final draft (11 total). Directions are in large font, with sample passages even larger, making analysis easier. Passages are student friendly, short and varied; themes often include holiday activities (Halloween Trick or Treating, Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas tree trimming, without religious content). Each student will need this book and a 2-pocket, 3-ring binder to store work which becomes a final portfolio. An answer key is available online; download codes for the eBook are emailed from publisher. (Access will come from the following email address: orders@commonsensepress.com.) ~ Ruth

Paragraph Writing for Kids teaches the basic skills of composition, with special emphasis on the thought processes necessary for clear, organized writing. Students are guided through the creation of five types of paragraphs:
* Descriptive
* Narrative
* Persuasive
* Expository
* Comparative
Designed to be student-directed, Paragraph Writing for Kids is an effective, fun way to prepare students for writing longer essays.
These materials provide practice for developing individual skills necessary to writing rather than focusing on the work as a whole.
