This model kit features a small-scale jet engine that not only operates when completed, but even makes engine sounds and has combustion chamber luminance. This is a great model project for those who have an interest in planes, model building, or engineering. Once the user finishes this project, they will not only have a cool model and conversation topic, but they will also walk away with basic hands-on knowledge of how a jet engine is assembled and how it operates. The compressor and turbine compartment are transparent so that the moving parts can be seen through the outer shell. The engine is operated by plugging the completed engine into the battery-powered base (powered by 3 AA batteries). This kit includes all of the necessary parts and hardware to complete the model. Batteries and a sharp blade or snips are required for completion of this model but are not included. The included step-by-step instruction manual includes a full list of parts, as well as an informational section on a real jet engine's uses and operations. Approximate completed dimensions are 9.5" tall, 9" long, and 6.25" wide. ~ Brianna
