Combining two books in one: Easy Spanish Step-by-Step and Advanced Spanish Step-by -Step, this is an option for the independent learner. There is a free app with audio recordings to help with your pronunciation and reading to help with the exercises. Flashcards on the app are fun for practice anywhere. The book has the meat of the course with a focus on grammar right away. Vocabulary exercises come in as you work through the grammar lessons. In order, here are the grammar elements you will find: noun gender, articles, adjectives, ser/estar, questions, numbers/dates, regular/irregular verbs, ir and the future, adverbs, negatives, IO/DO, reflexive verbs, present subjunctive, preterit, imperfect, double object pronouns, progressive tense, commands, present/past perfect, future, conditional, past perfect subjunctive, and idioms. If it sounds a bit intense, it is! And yet, it assumes no prior experience. You have to be a motivated learner to take this on. Exercises are in the book itself, so it is consumable. Completing this course would easily qualify for 1 high school credit, possibly 2. Or you could pair it with 2 levels of something like Rosetta Stone® for a more complete program. In fact, I like this idea. Rosetta is quite good at building listening skills and developing pronunciation, but not so good with the writing element. A typical schedule for a high school foreign language credit is about 45-60 minutes about 3x a week to complete 1 level. I feel like this book could work in this format. There are 30 lessons total, but again, they are detailed and grammatically dense. All answers are found on the free app. ~Sara
