This anthology contains twenty-five of the world's greatest speeches. It presents the speeches chronologically, beginning with Pericles' Funeral Oration (5th Century BC) and ending with Barack Obama's Inaugural Address (2009). Each speech is identified by its name, speaker, and date. Short introductory sections place the speeches in historical context. Some of the speeches included are Martin Luther's "Before the Diet of Worms," Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!" and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream." There are speeches by George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Mother Theresa, Ronald Reagan, and others (please note that Harvey Milk and "The Hope Speech" are included).
