This is the first course in our Adventures in Phonics series. Learning phonics is fundamental for children to develop proper reading skills. This workbook begins a formal study of phonics — starting with short vowel sounds and logically progressing through consonants, long vowels, and beyond. It includes consistent drills and repetition of the basic skills that will help ensure comprehension. Perforated pages make the daily assignments easy to complete.
Phonics A is designed to work with our kindergarten phonics readers, where students are prompted to begin reading once the phonics concepts for a given title have been studied.
Programs in this section go beyond teaching children how to read, incorporating phonetic readers, spelling and writing as well. Arranged roughly by grade/age.
A series of Worktexts designed to present phonetic skills in a logical sequence, along with consistent review and repetition to ensure proficiency. From Christian Liberty, some exercises contain religious references, and a high moral tone exists throughout. Teacher’s manuals provide complete instructions for each concept presented as well as an answer key. Level A skills include: short vowel sounds, consonant sounds, short vowel words, blends, consonant digraphs, long vowels, ow & ou, oi & oy, r-controlled vowels, vowel y, -ing, -ies plurals, silent consonants, and compound words. Drill, repetition, and writing activities are used to help ensure comprehension. The Package Sets include everything needed for each level, which is the Student Worktext and Teacher manual.
