This "indoor/outdoor hide and seek" game puts a fun twist on the traditional (and maybe not-so-fun) Snipe Hunt. The game consists of two actual Snipes, one green and one red, which reside in a green plastic nest. These cute little pointy-snouted, four-legged creatures are, according to the box, a morph between a Snipe bird and a Pine Martin. Game play is simple and can be enjoyed by two teams or two people. Players initially decide on a general area to hide their Snipes, and a location for the nest as well. Each team will then hide their Snipe and meet back at the nest. Then it's an all-out mad race to find the other team's Snipe! While the idea of locating a 4" animal in say, a yard, sounds challenging, the Snipes help you out. After two and a half minutes away from the nest, the Snipes start to chirp and after five minutes, the eyes light up (a huge help for late games!). The first team to find the opposing team's Snipe and return it to the nest (where it will stop chirping) wins the game. Simple, active, and easy for all ages to play, this is a great game for outdoor parties, or use it indoors when cabin fever strikes! Requires 4 AA batteries, included.
We bought for indoor winter use and have had lots of fun with teams hiding in the house and then racing to see who can find the other teams first and return to the nest.

Soooo Fun!
So much fun. I loved the suprise when older folks saw that it was an actual game and not a prank they pulled on their Classmates.

I totally agree with the other reviewer: this is the best game we have ever played with my 3 year old! First there is something really endearing and cute about the "snipes" (which the box explains is a mythical cross between a bird and a weasal) I think they would be appealing to both boys and girls - although my daughter is particularly cute when she nurtures the chirping snipes (in my unbiased opinion - ha!) Once the snipes are removed from their nest it will take 25 minutes for them to begin chirping 9with increasing urgency) to leave you enough time to hide them and then at 5 minutes away from the next their eyes begin blinking red Although the box says ages 6+ my 3 year old LOVED the challenge of hiding and finding the snipes From an educational standpoint I've seen she's gotten much better with words relating to location (behind over under near) since we've been playing with these But really it's just a ton of fun that I think anyone 3 and up would love My husband and I love it too We run around the house like kids ourselves taking turns being on the baby's team!! I can really see boys loving this too - anyone would! They are irrestible and I feel like a team of sisters and brothers together would have a blast playing with these outside

This is the best game we have ever bought! I highly recommend it for all ages Everyone in my family enjoyed this game from grandparents to youngest child The Snipes are cute and small enough to be hidden anywhere and they were ready to be turned on and hidden right out of the box Thankfully the snipes make a beeping noise to help you find them after a little while away from the nest Also if they are away from the nest for too long their eyes flash red and then stay lit up to help you spot them This game encourages creativity in hiding the snipe and critical thinking when having to find the other teams snipe It can be played by as few as 2 people and teams can be as large as you want them to be It is a wonderful indoor activity to encourage smiles and laughter on cold or rainy days We haven't taken our snipes outside yet but I'm sure it would be just as much fun to play outside as inside

Birds will not chirp after activation?
First off. This is an amazing toy. Kept our kids and nearby kids occupied on a camping trip for hours every day. The birds have an on/off switch. When ready to play you switch them to on. The kids then hide the birds. We formed two teams. After some time (maybe 2 minutes or so) if not found and returned to their nest they start to chirp to provide a clue to the finder. Once the bird is returned to the nest, it stops chirping. When both birds are returned to the nest, the kids hide them again…. Putting them on the nest resets them/temporary off status sort of thing. When done for the night, switch them to off to conserve battery. So worth it.
