The Memphis Belle is a B-17F Flying Fortress, an American heavy bomber that served during WWII. It is famous for being the first B-17 to survive its tour of duty by completing 25 bombing missions over Western Europe. Due to the extremely perilous nature of these missions, B-17s rarely ever accomplished this feat. The aircraft still survives today, where it is featured on display in Dayton, Ohio.

Flying Fortresses played a vital role in the outcome of the war, dropping more bombs than any aircraft of any nation. B-17s first saw combat in the Pacific theater; however, their primary uses were in conducting strategic daylight bombing raids over Europe. The aircraft was fast, high-flying, and very durable. It was not uncommon for B-17s to successfully return to base after missions despite being in extremely damaged conditions. The Flying Fortress was manned by a crew of 10, traveled at a top speed of 287 mph, and had a 2,000-mile range. It was armed with thirteen 12.7mm M2 Browning machine guns and could carry between 4,500 and 8,000 pounds of bombs depending on the distance of the mission.

The Memphis Belle is the most famous B-17 Flying Fortress used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during World War II. The aircraft gained popularity thanks to its successful series of 25 bombing missions over Europe. An excellent war film also tells its story. The realistic EXECUTIVE EDITION brick model includes the paint scheme and markings of the historical machine and consists of over 1300 elements. This impressive model has a wingspan of 66cm when built. Once built it will also become one of the biggest pieces in your brick collection. The "Memphis Belle" is most notable for being the first to survive its tour of duty over Europe. These bombers were often damaged or lost as a result of intense resistance. After its combat service ended, the aircraft was transported to the United States, where it attracted attention as a symbol of American success in the air war. In May 2018, the restored version of the aircraft was finally donated to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, where it is on display to the public.
