This sturdy little card (5.5” x 4.5”) is
a perfect reference for students while learning and practicing correct letter
formation. Numbered directional arrows provide a helpful guide to the complete
cursive alphabet on one side and the manuscript alphabet on the other. Tape
onto a desk or pull out as needed for a handy reminder!
Publisher's Description of Reason for Handwriting Student Desk Card
Sturdy 5.5" x 4.5" desk cards feature the complete cursive alphabet on one side, and manuscript on the other. Numbered directional arrows indicate the proper letter formation.
An appealing, full-color Christian handwriting program that
provides instruction and practice in handwriting (traditional style) with about
30 lessons per level (except for K which has 49). Each level has a letter
designation, with a whole book for transition from manuscript to cursive in
between B and C. The newly updated 2023 Transition book (Level T) is
designed to replace either Level B (preferred) or Level C (a later transition
for students needing extra manuscript practice) facilitating a mid-year
transition from manuscript to cursive. Starting in Book C, all handwriting
is cursive. In the more advanced levels, discussion questions accompany the
weekly Bible verse. One more issue to note is the height of the lines; they are
smaller in the cursive section of the Transition Book or Book C (3/8")
than in the previous books (manuscript books have 5/8" lines). Each
student workbook (except K level) contains a large back section of border sheets
(nicely lined and bordered papers…one per lesson) as a weekly challenge for students
to write their scripture verses on them "in their best handwriting."
(Scripture verses are taken from the Living Bible.) The student desk card shows manuscript
and cursive letters on a personal-sized card, or you can put the big letters up
on the wall using the alphabet wall sheets. One comprehensive teacher's guide
covers the whole series. Please note that sets are also available, which
include the student book and teacher guide at a discount.
My son really likes and appreciates having the cursive letters on this card. He is using a Reason for Handwriting book for learning cursive right now, and really finds it helpful to have this useful little card in front of him when he's doing his dictation and writing other things in cursive, which he's still getting used to. This facilitates him in remembering what the letters look like as he's learning without always having to open his book. Just deducted one star because the card was bent a bit upon arrival, and though the package said to be careful and not to bend (or something to that effect), it may have been more helpful to have it surrounded by cardboard to keep it in tact. He can still read all the letters though.

The desk cards are very helpful to have Just be aware that they are very small and that they each have a sticker on a corner (product number and barcode) which can not be removed

We used this program for the first time last yearmy daughter's 1st grade year I LOVED that God and His Word were integrated into a handwriting assignment What made it even better is that there was virtually no prep necessary My daughter even looked forward to doing her handwriting I prefer the style of writing (compared to italic) taught in this curriculum and appreciate the small steps it takes to make the transition to cursive easier (writing a lowercase a b d etc in one step) We also purchased the A Reason For Handwriting Manu/Cursive Wall Sheets and put them in plastic sheet protectors in a "handwriting binder" so my daughter could flip through and remember what to do when she got stuck on a letter We purchased the Student Desk Card to have something similar to the wall sheets in a portable/travel size Every week my daughter would look forward to finishing her week by picking out a "special page" out of the Reason for Handwriting Border Book and doing her very best printing and then coloring the border picture We saved all her special pages in a report cover and it was fun to look back over the year and see her progress We will be doing A Reason For Handwriting again this year for second grade and I know we'll both be looking forward to it!
