If you're in search of a mastery mathematics program that is solely textbook based, look no further. This is solid stuff that will yield incredible retention results. As the course progresses, you'll notice a definite lack in concept explanation, so if you aren't a strong math student yourself, there's a slim possibility that this could be problematic. For the most part, a thorough examination of the page will be enough for a parent to understand what is wanted but expect to need to give the occasional guidance/explanation. ALSO, word problems begin earlier on with this series so if you have a late reader, as I did, expect to help them read here and there. Personally, I found the simple, repetitive words used by the author to be beneficial for reenforcing reading skills. Overall, great program, I highly recommend. The only area I've needed to pause (so far) because the textbook didn't go into enough depth/repetition is in the initial introduction of the times tables. Be prepared to pause and do some serious flash card drills at book 9. I also recommend purchasing the corresponding answer boos for Level 5 and up, they really aren't necessary for Levels 1-4, IMO. Expect to go through 2-3 textbooks a year doing 2-3 pages a day, 2 if you only do 1-2 pages daily. Happy math journey! I haven't looked back since discovering DM, I hope you enjoy the incredible retention as much as we have!

I have used books 1-16 for multiple children Now that books 17-20 are out will start to use them also I love this math program because of its simple and logical approach The child learns a concept and just works on that until mastered Everything is shown in steps so the child understands what is happening before doing any shortcuts I have tried other popular math programs but my children always found this program easier to understand This is a solid no nonsense program I wish I had this program growing up I think I would have liked math
